5k [cowtown] run

This morning I ran the Fort Worth Cowtown 5k with some friends.  Bambi made these really
fun cow masks for us to wear with our tutus...I loved them! In the past couple of
years I've started to get into running.  I have a love//hate relationship with running.  I hate it because it is not necessarily an easy thing for me, but I love the [free] feeling you get while running
and the way you feel after you've completed a run. Bambi and I finished the
race in 25.14 mins...we were pretty happy with that! I'm slowly trying to work my way up in hopes of running a half marathon at some point this year.  I'll keep you posted on that.

pins of the week

If you haven't done so already, go get yourself a pinterest account [here.]
It is a site where you can gather photos // ideas all in one place. You create different boards to organize your pins.  You can have a board for new recipe ideas // your next
DIY project // fashion inspiration // cute dogs like this guy below // or anything
you desire.] It is very addicting and might end up consuming a lot of your time, but it's oh so fun!
Here are some of my recent pins.

you can find all of these pictures and my account here.

bold color + stripes

I decided to take a stab at a style [my look] post and see how it goes.  I've always loved fashion and before I decided to attend grad school for architecture I was leaning more towards the fashion industry. I interned for a fashion designer in LA and then later became a display coordinator for Anthropologie where I continued to be surrounded by amazing style.

I like to wear bright colors and fun prints and love these Level 99 wide-leg pants.
p.s. these boots are extremely comfy [always a plus!]

sweater - forever 21 [a few years back] // blouse - element // pants - anthroplogie //
shoes - target [kaelyn ankle boot] // watch - nixon

one for the [books]

One of our projects this semester in our design studio was to research and analyze a building and then create rendered plans, sections, and elevations.  This was our first time really working on rendering our drawings...[giving them more depth with the use of shadows and such instead of just using lines]. It definitely makes the drawings a lot more interesting. I can't wait to get more practice with this.

Building: Livraria da Vila bookstore located in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Architect: Isay Weinfeld

This bookstore is designed around its smallest unit, which is also its strongest element, the book.  This design comes across before you even enter the building. The facade consists of five large pivoting  bookcases with no windows, allowing the books [that are placed behind a layer of glass] to become the focal point.

Below are just a few pictures of the bookstore followed by my rendered drawings:

If you are interested in learning more about this building or seeing more pictures, check out hte post on ArchDaily right here.
